Looks Like Black Friday Will Be Actually Starting on Black Friday This Year!

For years Black Friday shopping would actually start on Friday. Everyone would enjoy their Thanksgiving meal with their family and just enjoy spending time with family and friends you haven't seen for a while while looking at the newspaper and checking out the ads. Make plans about what stores you'll be going to what time you'll be waking up. The past 4 or 5 years, have been different. Stores have been opening up earlier which prompted other stores to open up even earlier and the competition became fierce. Stores used to open at 4:00 am on Friday and now they're opening up at 8:00 pm on Thanksgiving day. A lot of the employees do not get any time off to spend with their kids, friends, or family.

This year, it seems like things are going back to how they were and how they are supposed to. Some stores have released news about their stores hours. I'm happy that the news is rolling out that Staples AND Gamestop WILL BE CLOSED ON THANKSGIVING!

Staples released this statement:

“We want our customers and associates to enjoy Thanksgiving their own way,” said Demos Parneros, president, North American stores and online, Staples. “On Thanksgiving Day, customers can shop from home on Staples.com and then continue their shopping in stores starting at 6 a.m. on Black Friday. Whether our customers like the convenience of shopping online, in our stores or a combination of both, Staples will have amazing products at great prices throughout the holiday season.”

Gamestop released this statement as per the ThinkProgress article:

“We believe strongly that our customers and associates should have the opportunity to spend the Thanksgiving holiday relaxing with family and friends,” said Mike Buskey, executive vice president and president of U.S. stores, said in a press release announcing the decision. “We know this is in stark contrast to what many other retailers are doing, but we are taking a stance to protect family time during this important holiday.”
