Family Trip to Seiple Farms!

Last weekend our family took a trip to Seiple Farms. Seiple Farms is located in Bath, PA and has the best activities for children and adults! Although we live only about 6 miles from the farm, we had never been there. We've always wanted to go but when we would make plans, it would rain and they'd be closed or someone was sick. We finally were able to make it on Saturday and boy were we in for an exciting day! I did not want to spend more than $40. I was sticking to my budget and not spending a penny more. We started the day with walking around and taking pictures. They had pony rides which were only $5 which was awesome! See our son was officially diagnosed with Asperger's this past year. We had suspected it since he was a year old so this diagnosed was bittersweet. He loves animals and he begged us to get on the pony. There was no way we were going to say no to him. The minute he got on that pony it was like he was calm and peaceful. 

Mikey has been saying that he wants to live on a farm with all of the animals. I have thought about it and although I do love the idea of living on a farm, I don't think I could keep up with the farm life.

It was time to go on a hayride over to the pumpkin patch. The kids enjoyed the hayride as did we. It was a fun and bumpy hayride. As you can see from Mikey's face, he couldn't wait to get there to pick his pumpkin!

The kiddos made out great! The pumpkins are 0.45¢/lb which is great. I paid $15.77 altogether for the pumpkins. That brought my money down to $19.23. I was on a roll with my spending. They had rides and food vendors and other vendors there. We bought a sheet of tickets which was $10. That sheet was enough to ride all of the rides they had once. After that, it brought my money down to $9.23. O didn't spend anymore even though we wanted a funnel cake. We figured since I made them all the time, I could just make one at home. 

We made our way home and got to carving these awesome pumpkins out. Mikey is a huge DC Comics fan so he wanted the Robin Boy Wonder logo drawn on his pumpkin. The other two, I used stencils. Those were hard to carve out but I accomplished it!

I put some candles in each of them to see how they looked lit. They looked so awesome!

We didn't want to put the pumpkins outside in fear that the deer or raccoons would eat them so we kept them indoors. I arranged them on my wine racks. After we carved them we, of course, roasted the pumpkin seeds. Soak the pumpkin seeds in water to clean them and melt 1/3 cup of butter and add a tablespoon of salt. Throw this in a bowl and make sure all of the seeds get coated. Lay them on a cookie sheet and bake at 350° and bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
